Description

day thirteen

"Photography itself gives away far more about the image-maker than they might believe. With self-portraits and 365s you become familiar with the artist through their physical image, displayed on your screen day after day. You learn about them through what they write. You listen to them when they talk about their family, their pets, the dreams and hopes. And even when they write nothing, their photographs speak silently. You ride their emotions with them, looking at shadow-filled pictures on some days and sun-drench shots on others. The photographs don’t have to be self-portraits; they say just as much when they focus on any subject. Simply put, photography is unbelievably personal. You get to know these people through the way their lens paints the world."

I feel really motivated and inspired these days. Probably it’s because I started writing my own thoughts on paper and it’s really relaxing. I always loved people who write, they seem different. They have the ability to make others feel better only with they words. They make us dream and believe everything is possible. Like big writers ; the surprise us every time with their imagination and they special way of seeing other things. From now, I will let my imagination run free on paper. Today was a really nice day and weird at the same time but my friends are always here to cheer me up every time I need.

I sat here, staring at the photograph for a few minutes, then read the text. On my laptop's Media Player, I have the songs "Sehnsucht" and "Engel" by Rammstien playing, softly. Normally, the music I listen to doesn't fit with most of the photographs or art that I look at. But I think in this day and age of color, color and more color, having a black and white photograph to look at while listening to German lyrics just seemed to fit. I know everyone has an opinion, and not everyone agrees with what one person thinks, but I feel that there is not enough black and white photography in the world. It brings the beauty of the world into a more simpler time, and I wish more photographers would see this.

I feel this piece, combined with the words written underneath it, are so insightful and have a huge impact to anyone who reads them.
